August Fred Unnewehr "Private August Fred Unnewehr Killed" Mr. and Mrs. Fred Unnewehr and family, who reside in the Pleasant Ridge neighborhood about eight miles southwest of Harrisonville, received the sad news on Monday evening of this week, that one of their sons, Private August Fred Unnewehr, had died in France, on October 27, 1918, as a result of wounds received in battle. Private Unnewehr was a native Cass County boy, having grown to manhood on his father's farm in the Pleasant Ridge community, leaving there a few years ago for Twin Falls, Idaho. He was called for Selective Service Draft National Army service from the latter place, and, after receiving his training as a soldier, was assigned as a member of the 159th Regiment of United States Infantry, 40th Division, to which organization he belonged at the time of his death. He was 25 years old on August 21, 1918. The death of this young soldier, in the prime of his manhood, comes as a shock to his many Cass County friends, who had earnestly hoped that he would not be required to make the "supreme sacrifice", but the grief they cannot help but feel will be lessened by their knowledge of the fact that he performed his duty nobly, and died gloriously, fighting for the cause of Humanity, and that his name will be honored, forever, by his country, as that of a true patriot. His relatives have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
